Either way, you will be unable to exceed the top speed as determined by the car’s manufacturer. Even if an accident will be inevitable, its impact will be very significantly reduced. Vehicles without speed governors are much prone to road accidents than with vehicles installed with speed governors.

Speed governors afford the driver more time to react and steer clear of danger on the road and reduce risk of somersaulting and collision with stationary vehicles.

When speed is controlled, other economic benefits can be enjoyed by the vehicle owner and the society at large. Benefits include lower fuel combustion, lower cost of maintenance and longer vehicle life span.

Car alarms are electronic devices installed in the vehicle in an attempt to discourage theft of the vehicle itself, its contents or both.

Car alarms work by emitting high-volume sound when the conditions necessary for triggering are met, as well as by flashing some of the vehicle’s lights and notify the car’s owner via a paging system and interrupting single or multiple electrical circuits necessary for the car to start.

Car alarms can be divided into two categories;

  • Before Market Alarms

OEM (built into the vehicle at the factory): Before market (installed at any time after the car has been built, such as by the new car dealer, an auto accessories store or the vehicle’s owner) alarms.

Almost all OEM alarms are typically armed and disarmed with the vehicle keyless entry remote. On many vehicles the key cylinders in the driver or front passenger door activate switches, so that when a key is used in the door the alarm will arm or disarm.

Some vehicles will arm when the power door open lock switch is pressed with the driver’s door open and the door is subsequently closed.

Some vehicles will disarm if the ignition is turned on; often when often vehicles equipped with a key based immobilizer and an alarm, the combination of the world key code and the ignition disarms the system.

  • After Market Alarms:

Like OEM alarms, after market systems are usually armed and disarmed via remote. Usually they do not have provisions for external disarming form the key cylinder, but will typically have over ride switch mounted in a hidden location.

The simplest alarm would have a switch on the driver’s door and it would be wired so that if someone opened the door the siren would start wailing. You could implement this car alarm with a switch, a couple of pieces of wire and a siren.

  • Most modern car alarm systems consist of:
  1. An array of sensors that can include switches, pressure sensors and motion detectors.
  2. A siren, often able to create a variety of sounds so that you can pick a district sound for your car.
  3. A radio receiver to allow wireless control from a key fob.
  4. An auxiliary battery so that the alarm can operate even if the main battery gets disconnected.
  5. A computer control unit that monitors everything and sounds the alarm-the brain of the system. The brain is most advanced systems are actually a small computer.

The brain’s job is to close the switches that activate alarm devices-your horn, headlights or can installed siren-when certain switches that power sensing devices are opened or closed. Security system differs mainly in which sensors are used and how the various devices are wired into the brain.

Speed governor is a governor used to limit the top speed of a vehicle. For some closes of vehicle and in some jurisdictions they are a statutory requirement. For some other vehicles the manufacturer provides a non-statutory system which may be fixed or programmable by the driver.

This force is commonly called as the controlling force and it will increase as the distance of the ball from the axis of rotation increases. The inward or outward movement of the ball is transmitted by the governor mechanism to the valve which controls the amount of energy supplied to the engine.

Inertia Governors

In inertia governors, the balls are arranged in manner that the inertia forces caused by angular acceleration or retardation of the governor shaft tend to change their position.

Obvious advantage of inertia governor lies in its rapid response to the effect of a change of load. The advantage of inertia governor is small, by the practiced difficult of arranging for the complete balance of the revolving parts of the governor.

How to Ensure Road Safety for Kids

  1. Know your signals: Help children to learn about the traffic light and signs.
  2. Green means “GO”.
  3. Red means “Stop”.
  4. Yellow means to slow down.

HOW A VEHICLE TRACKING DEVICE WORKS

Vehicle tracking devices combine the use of automatic vehicle location in individual vehicles with software that collects these fleet data for a comprehensive picture of vehicle locations.

Modern vehicle tracking devices commonly use GPS technology for locating the vehicle but other types of vehicle location can also be used. Information about vehicle can be viewed on electronic maps via the Internet or Specialized Software.

Vehicle tracking devices are classified as “Passive and Active.”

Passive devices store GPS speed, heading and location such as key on or off, door open or closed. Once the vehicle returns to a predetermined point, the system is removed and the data collected to computer for evaluation.

Active devices also collect the same information but usually transmit the data in near-real-time via cellular or satellite networks to a computer or data center for evaluation.

Most vehicle tracking devices combine both active and passive tracking abilities. Whenever cellular network is avertable and a tracking device is connected it transmits data to a server, when a network is not available the device stores data in internal memory and will transmit stored data to the server later when the network becomes available again.

A GPS tracking system uses the Global Navigation Satellite System network. This network incorporates a range of satellites that use microwave signal s that are transmitted to GPS devices to give information on location, vehicle speed, time and direction.

Vehicle Tracking Device

GPS provides special satellite signals, which are processed by a receiver. These GPS receivers not only track the exact location but can also compute velocity and time. The position can even be computed in three-dimensional views with the help of four GPS satellite signals. The space segment of the Global Positioning Systems consists of 27 Earth-orbiting GPS satellites.  There are 24 operational and 3 extra ( in case one fails) Satellites that moves around the earth each 12 hours and send radio signals from space that are received by the GPS receiver.

The control of the Positioning System consists of different tracking stations that are located across the globe. These monitoring stations help in tracking signals from the GPS Satellites that are continuously orbiting the earth.

GPS tracking system is a way of monitoring the behavior of employees as they carry out their work and of streamlining interval process and procedures for delivery fleets.
