It is really amazing that a whooping number of about 3,000 people lose their lives annually through road accidents in Kenya. This places Kenya among countries with high level of road carnage in the world.
The 2017 Road Accident Statistics of Kenya earlier released by the Kenyan Ministry indicated that about 91% of the road accidents are human-related. That means about 91% of the road accidents ravaging the Kenyan roads can be prevented.

- As at June 2017, a total of 2,834 lost their lives in road accidents as compared to 3,150 in 2016.

- A total of 96 sustained serious injuries through road crash as compared to 79 in 2016.
- There were a total of 714 pedestrian accidents in 2017 as compared to 766 in 2016.
- Most of the road accidents occurred in the weekends during returns from social activities.
- 154 boda-boda passengers lost their lives on the road in 2017 as compared to 149 in 2016.
The 2017 Road Accident Statistics of Kenya calls for attention. It calls for vigilance and strict adherence to road safety policies and mechanisms. It is only by that means should road accidents be reduced.
