Vehicle Maintenance: Top 7 Things You Must Always Keep Watch Off

Sharing is caring!

Vehicle maintenance is everything.

If you’re not ready to maintain your car, then there’s no need buying it in the first place. Following a regular schedule on maintaining your car can save you a lot of time, money and energy. Just by investing a little time and money checking on your car, you’ll extend the vehicle life span, ensure safety and save a lot money in the bank.

The key for vehicle maintenance is to always follow your manufacture’s manual. Your manufacture’s manual provides a sure guide on the frequency, mode and specifications for maintenance. However, there are 7 critical things you must keep watch off with regards to your vehicle maintenance.

  1. Fluids
  2. Engine Air Filter
  3. Brakes
  4. Battery
  5. Tires
  6. Wipers
  7. Belt

Fluids

You have to see your fluids as the lifeblood of your vehicle. A good vehicle maintenance practice therefore will be to change your fluids regularly. There are a lot of prescriptions out there, but the key is to always refer to your manufacture’s prescription.

When it comes to changing fluids, there’re many fluids to use based on the Owner’s Manual: brake fluid, clutch fluid, power steering fluid, battery electrolyte fluid, windscreen washer fluid and many others.

Engine Air Filter

If your fluids are your car’s lifeblood, then your engine air filter is your car’s lungs. If you allow your car’s lungs—engine air—filter absorb dirty air, it can affect the internal operation of your vehicle. This is often the case when driving on dirty roads. So it is good to change your engine filter regularly!

Brakes

If your brakes fail, you know you will be in trouble. So the best thing to do is to always ensure that your brake system is always functioning well, change worn out brake paddle and always fluid your brake system.

Battery

Your battery is the powerhouse of your car. If you don’t practice good vehicle maintenance, your battery can be ruined. So always check terminals for corrosion, top up battery fluid, clean the battery regularly with a battery cleaning brush and ensure that the battery is not leaking.

Tyres

You know that if your legs hurt, then it will be very difficult for you to move around. If your vehicles legs—the tyres –are not in good shape, you may not be able to move around. Always check the tyre pressure and ensure it is well inflated, regularly rotate and balanced to ensure they wear evenly. Also check out for tears in the tyre and replace your worn out tyres as soon as possible.

Wipers

Your windscreen is your car’s eyes. Without visibility, you’ll be exposing yourself to danger. So the very first vehicle maintenance clue is to clean and dust your windscreen regularly—both inside and outside. Then check up on your wipers and change them if they are not functioning well in wiping off the windscreen to ensure visibility.

Belt

If you fail to regularly change your vehicle’s belt, you may be shortening your vehicle’s life span.  You always have to refer to your manufacture’s manual to quickly know the frequency of replacement. But all the same, your timing and serpentine belts should be changed according to the miles prescribed in your Owner’s Manual.

Body

Above all, keep your vehicle clean and tidy. Wash your car regularly: both inside and outside. To avoid driving in dirty smelling car, just visit your car wash and give a good wash to your car. This will go a long way of ensuring that the paintings do not spill off.
